Discover this beautiful area full of forests in the south of Germany.
Grand, luxuriant and insanely beautiful
The Black Forest's rich natural heritage makes it fairy-tale beautiful. The dark and mysterious forests, the astonishingly beautiful Naturpark Schwarzwald Mitte/Nord and the overwhelming lakes and reservoirs are must-sees. It is not without a reason that this is the birthplace of many fairytale characters; the Brothers Grimm were clearly inspired by the landscape. During this trip, you will get to see a lot of beautiful things. The routes are easy to ride, even though they can be quite winding at times. But that is what makes motorcycling so much fun.
The outward journey (first day) and return journey (last day) you will drive on your own initiative.
Day route 1: Titisee | 259/329 km
Today's route starts towards the vineyards. White, red and rosé wines are grown in the vineyards of the Black Forest and one of the most famous grape varieties is the Riesling. This grape is one of the best and is especially known for the sweet wines it produces. The route also passes through a few villages but these are soon swallowed up by nature. The route occasionally goes up and down hills and brings you to the Schaunisland. Here, you have the opportunity to take the mountain railway to the highest point of the region, where you can take a short walk up to the watchtower: Eugen-Keidel-Turm this is 31 meters high and you have a beautiful view over Freiburg and its surroundings. On a clear day, the French Vosges Mountains and some Alpine peaks are visible. The route continues towards Unterlehnen, passing several shops where cuckoo clocks are made and sold, as the Black Forest is famous for them. After a series of hairpin bends, the route continues through the pilgrimage site of Sankt Margen. A small road with lots of bends will bring you slowly back to the hotel.
Day route 2: Schaffhausen | 350 km
You take a scenic diversion from the hotel via the small surrounding villages towards Waldkirch. From Waldkirch you drive a very winding road with several hairpin bends around the Kandelberg. This road and mountain are very popular with hikers, mountain bikers and motorcyclists. The way down again has many bends. You will pass Titisee. With a surface area of 1.3 square kilometers, is Titisee not a small lake and the depth is about 20 meters on average. You continue to follow the roads through villages and nature to enjoy the beautiful views. You continue the route and cross the border into Switzerland. The route takes you to the Rheinfall in Schaffhausen. This spectacular phenomenon is a real tourist attraction and is the largest waterfall in Europe. After the falls you will drive partly through the city and partly along the Rhine back to your hotel.
Day route 3: Schwarzwalder Hochstrasse | 286 / 355 km
The last day route of this trip takes you to the Black Forest National Park along the famous Schwarzwald Hochtstrasse. This road runs from Freudenstadt to Baden - Baden. Once on the Schwarzwalder Hochtstrasse, you have various tourist options or you can simply keep on driving. The route winds through the rolling landscape, sometimes between meadows and at other times through dense forests. You will pass the Ruhestein ski area and the ski jump, in spring and summer when there is no snow, you will be treated to special flora and fauna. A few kilometers further on you will arrive at the Mumelsee, a perfect place for a stop. It can be a bit crowded, but there is always a spot for the bike. You can also walk around the lake. Watch out here for the large green Mummelsee monster.... The route leads through the Black Forest back to the hotel, via a variety of wide and smaller winding roads.
Usually between April and October.
