Varied landscapes and snow-covered mountain peaks. Enjoy riding on the most beautiful passes in Austria!
Looking for an active and relaxing holiday? We highly recommend this pass trip in beautiful Vorarlberg. Riding passes means experiencing many beautiful and, above all, winding roads with plenty of hairpin turns, as well as steep climbs and descents. Vorarlberg, with its breathtaking alpine landscapes and winding roads, offers motorcycling enthusiasts an exhilarating and scenic experience like no other. The region's well-maintained routes and picturesque vistas make it a top destination for riders seeking unforgettable journeys through the Austrian countryside.
There is a special rule in Vorarlberg. As not all motorbikes are allowed on certain parts of the routes (depending on the noise production listed on the label on the bike). If this is the case for your bike, we ask you to mention this in the comments field of the booking form. We have alternative routes for riders where the 95db+ restrictions apply.
The outward journey (first day) and return journey (last day) you will drive on your own initiative.
Day route 1 | Oberjoch | 219 / 323 km
For today, you have the option of doing a short or long route. You start almost immediately with a wonderful steering path through the mountains and valleys towards Andelsbuch. Here you will drive on a very winding, small and narrow road that crosses the small river Bergenzeracht. Through a number of nice winding roads you continue north and pass the border with Germany after about 85 kilometres. After a few hairpin bends, you can make a trip to the Scheidegger Wasserfälle. A little further on you will come back to Scheidegg and follow the route back to Austria. This is followed by a beautiful steerage route up the Oberjoch. It reaches a height of 1,178 metres with many beautiful bends and views. After the Oberjoch, you will pass the German-Austrian border and the Haldensee. After this, the road winds and meanders back to the hotel.
Day route 2 | Silvretta | 220 / 281 km
Today there are many passes on the programme and you can also choose between a short and a long route. The long route goes up the Furkajoch (1,761m). At the end of the pass, you enter and leave the city of Rankweil. Via a beautiful winding road with a number of hairpin bends, you head towards Bludenz, after which you enter the Montafon mountains, this beautiful mountain range starts at Bludenz and runs up to the Silvretta. After passing the Silvretta tollbooth, you will drive up a beautiful road with 32 hairpins to the Silvretta reservoir. Afterwards, you drive back to the hotel via Lech and Warth with, once again, beautiful roads, plenty of winding roads and the corresponding views.
Day route 3 | Kaunertal | 285 km
Leaving from the hotel, you drive up the Hahntennjoch (1,894m), which is a truly stunning road with countless curves on perfect asphalt. At the highest point, the Pillerhohe, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of Prutz. Continuing on the route towards the Kaunertal Glacier, you will pass through one of the most beautiful panorama roads in Austria. Along the way, you will also come across the Gepatsch reservoir, which is the ninth largest reservoir in the world. The view of the water is magnificent and it's definitely worth a stopover. Finally, you will drive back to the hotel via Lech and Warth, and you will often reminisce about this day route.
Day route 4 | Samnaun and/or Stelvio | 339 / 395 / 428 km
Today, you have the choice of three different route options. The short route will take you to the tax-free state of Samnaun but not to the Stelvio Pass. The long route does not go to Samnaun, but it does include an extra loop over the famous Stelvio Pass. For those who want to ride and/or visit both, you can take the XL route. From the hotel, you will drive towards Warth and Lech, crossing the Arlberg Pass, which you already drove earlier this week. If you take the short or XL route, you will continue following the road after crossing the Austrian-Swiss border until you reach Samnaun. This tax-free state offers advantages such as cheaper fuel and it is nice to have a look around. If you take the long route, you will reach the Reschen Pass (1,504m). This pass and the lake are known for the church tower that protrudes from the water of the former village that was submerged by this lake. After the Reschen Pass, you will enter the Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio. You are now in the vicinity of the infamous and famous pass. In the town of Prata dello Stelvio, the route turns left and you will actually drive up the Stelvio Pass (2,757m). The "Passo dello Stelvio" is the Italian name for the pass. In German, the pass is called "Stilfersjoch". The Stelvio Pass is arguably the most famous pass in Europe, renowned for its 48 sharp hairpin bends and significant changes in altitude. On a clear day, it is a stunning pass to drive. The pass is one of the highest in Europe, with an altitude of 2,757m, and connects Italy with Switzerland. The final stretch takes you back to the hotel via the beautiful Furkajoch (1,761m), offering magnificent panoramic views. A worthy ending to a beautiful and intense day of motorcycling!
Extra Route | Hoher Freschen | 122 km
We have added this route to the trip for when you return early from a ride or have booked extra days. It takes you around the Hoher Freschen mountain peak on quiet and winding roads. After driving for approximately 15 kilometers, you will reach the picturesque town of Fontanella. From there, you will take the alternative route of the Furkajoch on beautiful winding roads. Finally, you will return to the hotel via a pleasant road.
