The Algarve, the southernmost point of Portugal, has countless gems to offer. Stunning roads through beautiful nature with a top-quality rental motorbike that's always in perfect condition. With this new concept, you don't need your own motorbike to tour around the beautiful locations. Because of the favorable climate, you can ride for miles with beautiful sunshine all year round. The outward journey (first day) and return journey (last day) you will drive on your own initiative.  

You fly from an airport of your choice to sunny Faro. You arrive here in the afternoon, after which you can look for the hotel with your luggage. Here, you can already take a lovely dive into the swimming pool, have a drink and enjoy the delicious Portuguese cuisine. This gives you the real relaxed holiday feeling with the sun at the horizon and a wonderful week of driving ahead of you. The next day, early in the morning, you'll collect your rental motorbike from Hertz Ride.

Today, in the morning, you will leave for the location of the motorbike rental. After sorting out everything with the rental company and changing into your riding gear, your motorbike holiday can begin. The motorbike always comes equipped with 3 suitcases. Day route 1 starts from the motorbike rental location. After about 30 km, the first curves begin and they don't stop. Be careful as there are only few opportunities for lunch or coffee stops along the way. The first possibility is after about 90 km. You will ride through a beautiful lush green landscape, with lots to see. You will ride between 100 and 500 meters in altitude. From about km 125, you will encounter various lunch/coffee spots. From there, you will continue riding up the beautiful hills and enjoy countless curves and wide views. There are few places to refuel along the way, so keep this in mind. Eventually, you will leave the hills behind and ride towards the hotel where you will be staying for the next few days. 

After a good breakfast, you can choose between the short or long route. The route goes through the National Park of Costa Vincentina, where you will find some beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. Furthermore, this day route is completely filled with beautiful and winding roads. At the end of the route you, will pass the town of Silves. Here is a castle that was built by the Romans. Later it was taken over by the Moors, making it one of the best-preserved Moorish fortifications in Portugal. After this challenging ride, you can take a lovely dip in the pool or the sea.

The first few kilometres take you almost directly onto the small roads, and from the village of Bartalomeu the steering becomes more challenging. In the beautiful hills of the Algarve, you have the opportunity to visit a Buddhist monument, which is a nice excursion. Later, you can have lunch in the town of Mertola, where you will also find a church which was originally a mosque from the time of the Moors. Furthermore, you drive over magnificent roads through the inlands of Portugal back to the hotel.

After a delicious breakfast buffet, it's time for a truly wonderful day trip. You'll visit the southernmost point of Portugal, near the town of Sagres, where there is a very old lighthouse dating back to 1846. The coastlines that are included in this route are also of an extraordinary beauty. The different beaches you pass are definitely worth a stop. Among them is Praia do Amado, also known as "The Beloved Beach". Later, you'll arrive at Praia da Bordeira, which is considered by experts to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. After visiting all of these beautiful places, you'll ride through the stunning and winding part of the Algarve. You'll also pass by the MotoGP circuit of Portugal. During non-racing days, you can walk around and visit the Algarve Motorsport Park. After that, you'll ride back to the hotel on beautiful rolling roads, to enjoy the last evening at the second hotel.

Unfortunately, today is already the last day route. It's a beautiful tourist route to the hotel near the airport, where you stayed on the first night. Today, you'll ride through the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa. You can also choose to explore the town of Tavira, with its beautiful architecture. You can also choose to ride an extra loop on the fantastic BMW, which already really feels like your own motorbike.  At the end of the day, you'll return the motorcycle to the Hertz Ride rental location. Then, you'll take a taxi back to the hotel and enjoy the Portuguese sun for the last time.

Today you fly back home. First, you have time for a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Then you can gather your things and go to the airport. You have enjoyed a week of a beautiful motorbike in beautiful surroundings and the delicious Portuguese sun. Take the rest for the last time to you, before you go back home. In the afternoon, you catch your return flight, where you can reminisce about the trip in the plane. 

The Algarve trip includes a rental motorcycle from Hertz Ride. Motorcycles can be picked up/dropped off from Monday to Friday. Sometimes it is also possible to arrange for pick up/drop off on Saturday/Sunday but with an additional fee of €49.

The standard motorcycle for the trip is the BMW F700 GS/F750 GS.

If you prefer a heavier type of motorcycle, there will be an additional fee and you can choose from the following motorcycle types:

• BMW R1200/R1250 GS: + €159
• BMW R1200/R1250 RT: + €219
• Ducati Dessert X: + €79
• Ducati Multistrada V2: + €95
• Ducati Multistrada V4: + €139

Keep the things below in mind:

• Please note: below are some rental conditions for renting a motorcycle:
• Minimum age 28 years (or 25 years with an additional fee for a young rider)
• Minimum of 3 years possession of your motorcycle driver's license
• Deposit/excess payment of €2000 per motorcycle, which can only be paid by credit card at the Hertz Ride location
• Identification requirement (driver's license and passport/ID card)
