    About this tour: Dresden

    Pleasant atmosphere and great driving

Do you like culture, history and great steering? Then this trip is perfect for you! By spending a few nights in Dresden, you'll be in the most beautiful city of East Germany, where you'll be overwhelmed by all the beauty of the inner city. The old buildings, beautiful streets and magnificent churches and palaces. Dresden is situated on both sides of the Elbe, which provides the most beautiful images when the evening falls. Culture is interspersed here in the beautifully clean Elbsandstein mountains and the steering valleys of the Ore Mountains, where you also drive through the Czech Republic. Apart from the fact that the roads here are of an extraordinary quality, the culture and landscape are more than worth it. Crossing the Elbe by ferry is the icing on the cake!

Please note that if separate beds are desired in a double room, this is not possible at the first hotel of this trip. In the other two hotels, this is possible based on availability.

The outward journey (first day) and return journey (last day) you will drive on your own initiative.

    Day route 01: Duderstadt - Dresden | 382 km

Today you will ride a beautiful but also tough rural route through central Germany. After 60 km, you will pass Goslar and drive through the Harz National Park. You are in the heart of the Harz. The route takes on a mountainous character here. The second part of the route is also beautiful. You will drive through two National Parks. At the end of the route, you enter Dresden. Once one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Dresden was nicknamed Elbflorence (Florence on the Elbe) for its baroque and rococo architecture. The city is especially known for the big allied bombing raid in the night of 13 to 14 February 1945 in which 25,000 people died and 75,000 houses were destroyed. After the war, large-scale renovations were started to give Dresden its pre-war look again. This major renovation was completed in 2005. Stroll through the nearby Altmarkt with its cafés, shops and the impressive Kreuzkirche church. Important sights such as the Frauenkirche, the baroque palace the Zwinger and the beautiful opera house the Semperoper are a short walk away.

Day route 2: Elbe Sandstone Mountains | 278 km

Today, a beautiful round trip through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains is on the program. Afterwards, you will take a look in the Czech Republic and drive back along the Elbe. Towards the end, you have the opportunity to visit the Konigstein Fortress. Already in the morning, after 30km, you will tour through the Elb Sandstone Mountains in the National Park Saxon Switzerland just below Dresden. Definitely a special area. The Elb Sandstone Mountains are called "Little Arizona" because of their special rock formations. You cross the border into the Czech Republic. Shortly afterwards, you enter the nature park again, this time on the Czech side of course. The first 10 km are very special. You drive through a gorge that is bulging with terraces, shops and other crowds on the sides of the road. An atmospheric setting. A scenic route is part of it. At the edge of the national park, you drive a big loop through the Czech Republic back to Germany. On the way, you drive for a bit along the Labe, The Czech name for Elbe. From here, you'll drive back to the hotel in Dresden on beautiful winding roads.

Day route 3: Ore Mountains / Tsjechië | 347 km

For today's day route, there are numerous steering roads set out to take you through the most beautiful places in Germany and the Czech Republic. The day route also takes you along the most beautiful lakes and the most authentic villages. Of the more than 300km of route, you will drive ±145km through the Czech Republic. The roads in the Czech Republic are of a good quality. So you can enjoy beautiful nature together with a completely different culture. Before you leave the Czech Republic for the last time, you will pass through the town of Veiprty. This is located in the Bohemian part of the Ore Mountains. The houses here have bright colours and an authentic architectural style. Once you have entered Germany again, you can visit Basalt-Table Mountain. Here you have the opportunity to take the most beautiful photos before driving back to the hotel. The optional long route is fantastic to drive with a bigger part through the Czech Republic where the roads are beyond expectation. At the end of the day, you will arrive back in Dresden where you can choose your restaurant in the centre for a delicious dinner.

    Day route 4: Altenburg / Colditz | 298 km

As the title of today's route already says, you will drive through Altenburg and Colditz today. These are two beautiful places with magnificent castles. In Altenburg, you can also visit a card game museum in the castle, which is more interesting than it seems! In Colditz, you can relive the escapes of several Allies. During this route, you will pass a third castle, located in Wildeck. There is also the possibility to visit an oldtimer motor museum. Furthermore, the route is beautifully driven on sloping steering roads, which makes you as a motorcyclist very happy. With regular visits to a beautiful typical East German village, where time has stood still for a long time. After about 100 km, you will arrive in Wildeck, where you can visit the castle and have a cup of coffee. After this, you will continue on to the highlights of Altenburg and Colditz. These are the places to be to let yourself be flooded with information from the Middle Ages to the Second World War. The last part of the route is a nice steer back to the hotel in Dresden.

This day trip is only for the 7-day trip.

    Day route 5: Dresden - Magdeburg | 279 km

From Dresden, you drive via famous Wittenberg (Luther city) to Magdeburg, the last overnight stop on this trip. After 160km, you'll pass through Wittenberg. Have a coffee and/or lunch stop. This is where Luther hammered his famous 95 statements on the Roman Catholic Church door. Magdeburg lies on the Elbe. This city, like many other German cities, suffered greatly from the war. Where possible, many buildings have been renovated. The route is easy to drive, allowing plenty of time for cultural and lunch stops along the way. The hotel is close to the city centre, so an evening walk to the centre on the Elbe can be made. Even though you are a lot further north, the Elbe remains a mighty river to behold and in fine weather you can have dinner close to the water.
