Dresden

A journey interspersed with beautiful motorcycle roads, surprising landscapes and a beautiful city

On the outward journey we chose to do some highway miles first and then pick up the Horizon route through the Sauerland. First hotel is a cozy village hotel where the food and drink is good. Next route was through the Harz towards Dresden, a nice varied route where you pass the border of the former GDR. The hotel in Dresden is a modern neat hotel, located within walking distance of the Altstadt Dresden. Only criticism is that there are only paid publicly accessible hotel parking spaces and this is really not what you want as a motorcyclist in the middle of such a big busy city. We experienced Dresden as a fantastically beautiful city with many possibilities. From Dresden we rode 3 wonderful routes in very beautiful landscapes with many sights. However, I should note that if you want to visit these, you should leave early. The routes themselves are already day filling. Especially the routes in the Czech Republic we liked. Great roads, beautiful scenery and nice and quiet. The last stage is towards the hotel in Magdeburg. Personally, I did not find this route interesting since it mainly leads over busy Landstrasse with a lot of freight and city traffic. Magdeburg also does not add anything more in my opinion if you have spent several days in beautiful Dresden. The hotel in Magdeburg is a large hotel centrally located with a parking garage where you can park at a rate of €19 per motorcycle. Conclusion, a fantastic trip with beautiful roads, landscapes and cities. A nice alternative if you want to ride some more miles and are looking for something different from the busy Eifel area. However, I would advise Horizon to change the trip towards Magdeburg for a route and overnight stay in the Harz or Sauerland.
