Steering in France, through the heart of the Vosges mountains, discovering this beautiful area with our routes
The wealth of mountains, forests and lakes makes this area one of the most beautiful places to explore by motorbike. Moreover, it is very quiet on the roads, as a highway has been built parallel to this beautiful area for through traffic.
The outward journey (first day) and return journey (last day) you will drive on your own initiative.
Day route 1: Vosges - West | 293 / 330 km
Today you have the option of a short- and long route. Today's route covers the (north) west of the Vosges Mountains. The first Col you pass today is the Col de Platzerwasel, which was part of the Tour de France in 2014. You continue the route towards La Bresse. A pretty town which in winter is a base for ski lovers. After following a lovely and winding road, you arrive in Gerardmèr. After Gérardmer, the route remains beautiful and particularly winding. No more cols for a while, but nice steering and enjoying the surroundings. After this nice steering road, you will pass the village of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges and continue a little further north towards Strassbourg/Strasbourg, a beautiful and historic city known for being the seat of the Council of Europe, as the European Court and also the European Parliament are located here. A visit to this city is definitely recommended. You can admire the impressive Notre-Dame Cathedral here or stroll through the cosy streets. You continue the route a little further south towards Le Hohwald, passing Cascade du Hohwald, a small waterfall in the woods. After a few Colls, today's route is almost over and you will drive the last kilometres back to the hotel.
Day route 2: Vosges - North | 254 / 330 km
Today you will once again enjoy steering through the many bends and drive on beautiful roads. Of course, the curve-fest starts almost immediately. After about 70 kilometres and already having ridden several Colls, you will pass through Le Hohwald again. Then you ride up Mont Sainte-Odile. A great place for a short stop with stunning views in clear weather. Another place of interest on the route that you pass after some driving is Saint Léon. Here you can go and see the Saint Léon caves. The route now heads back towards the hotel via the Col de Lac Vert. Lac Vert lake is a hidden paradise in a wooded area. It is easily accessible via hiking trails. With Col du Bonhomme and Col du Donon, the last col on today's route is the most famous in the region: Col de la Schlucht (1,139m) and you will return to the hotel via beautiful steering roads.
Day route 3: Vogezen - South-West | 267 / 329 km
For day route 3 you can again pick a short or long route. The first Col you have ridden today is the Col de Platzerwasel (1,182m). No punishment to ride it again! You now continue the route towards the Lac de Kruth-Wildenstein. After this lake, a fantastic Col awaits you: Col du Brammont (956m). No less than 13 hairpins in a row in all possible variations. After this feast of curves, you continue your route and pass several villages. The route now takes you further through the Vosges and again to several Collen. After the last Col de Firstplan (722m) you ride via Munster back to the hotel.
