Ridden many beautiful passes, but the start had a twist.

Ridden many beautiful passes with nice weather. The hotel was fine, welcoming and good food. actually, as a motorcyclist, you don't want anything else. Only the way there was different than we had imagined. We would sleep in a hotel in Königsbrunn, a little bit below Würzburg. The two days before our departure it had rained heavily in Limburg, the Eifel and in Belgium below Liege. The weather was dry at our departure and we set out and drove on the highways via Venlo to see the Lorelei near the Rhine. But suddenly for us the A61 near Cologne was closed. It had happened just before us because the police were still putting up pylons. We didn't know what was going on. Later we saw on the news, that the A61 was flooded in several places that day, there were trucks up to their roofs in water. And at one point, a local stream had turned into a destructive current that had swept away a 10-meter hole across the entire width of the highway. We had to find our own route in the chaos. There were many road closures, stationary cars everywhere in the middle of the road that were abandoned, probably unable to continue due to the water. In many villages, including those on the hills, there was clay all over the roads and people were pumping out basements. Later on the second day of our outward journey it rained heavily in Austria, fortunately we were able to continue driving, but in the evening in Mittersill farmlands and the road we had crossed were flooded.
