Even the outward and return trips in stages were fantastic to ride. Nice mix of through and (small) back roads and what a tranquility along the way. And all those different landscapes! Occasionally a bit busier. On the outward and return journeys we sometimes included a stretch of péage to keep travel time within limits and to get around/through large cities smoothly. The long routes were tough, but wonderful to do. You do have to refuel very on time, because there were very long stretches without refueling facilities on the route and catering establishments were often not available or closed.
